How to make a Photoshop Icon

Welcome today we will be teaching you how to make a Photoshop icon with Adobe® Photoshop® CS4. What we will end up with.
1) Open a new document that is 256x256. File> New 2) Use the rounded rectangle tool and drag a square out. Call this base. *Hint- remember to hole SHIFT to make it a perfect square* 3) Set the color to a nice blue I used #005cb2. 4) Open up the layer styles and apply these settings
You should have this now
5) Using the pen tool, You want to make a make a small wave.
6) Select the base layer hold CTRL and click on the thumb nail, now hold CTRL+ATL+SHIFT and click on the new layer. You should now have a selection like this:
7) Make a new layer call it shine. Use the gradient tool an make it white to transparent. Hold SHIFT and drag from the top of the of the selection do just under it. 8) Change the opacity to 42%
9) Using the type tool set the font to Myriad Pro Semibold, type Ps and you are done. Final result.

How to make the “Aero” glass effect in Photoshop.

Today I will be showing you how to make the “Aero” glass effect in Adobe® Photoshop® CS4. 1) Start off with a new document. (File> New) I am going to make the size 500x500, but feel free to make it what you want.
2) “Unlock” the background layer. You can do this by holding “ALT” and double clicking on the background layer. 3) Find a image for our back ground. I will use a flower picture. 4) Use the rectangle tool, ( 5) Make it white (Hex code #FFFFFF). ( 6) Change the fill to 11%. Using this button 7) Open the layer styles and change these settings.( Double click on the layer, to open the layer styles box)
Stroke > 1px> color black (Hex code #000000).
You should get something like this.
Inner glow> blend mode overlay> Opacity 75%> Noise 0%> Color white (Hex code #ffffff).
You should get this.
8) Select the shape you made, you can do that by holding CTRL and clicking on the thumbnail of the shape. 9) Select the background layer then go to” Filter> Blur> Box Blur”. Use these settings, Radius: 7 pixels
